2020 Aston Martin DBX SUV – Specs, Performance, Availability
The sections of the Welsh Rally were the setting chosen to introduce the development prototypes of the Aston Martin SUV, the DBX.
Scheduled to launch in late 2019 to rival rivals such as the Lamborghini Urus, Ferrari’s SUV, Bentley Bentayga and Rolls-Royce Cullinan, it is already testing the new Aston Martin DBX. The brand has now presented the first photos and videos of development prototypes on the gravel sections of the Welsh Rally (who may not have found its compatriot F-Type rally here ) as part of an optimization program that also includes ice fields in the Arctic, the sands of the Middle East and the Autobahn and Nurburgring circuit in Germany.
The fact that the brand announces the model as DBX means that his hypothesis is called Varekai, as it was announced, is not confirmed. That is, the concept name presented in 2015 remains, although the three-door configuration is abandoned and a more conventional five-door style is introduced. This is an extremely important model for the brand, as the Aston Martin SUV will be central to the increase in sales advocated by the Second Century strategic plan . This is evidenced by the fact that DBX is responsible for the inauguration of the production lines of the new factory of Aston Martin, which is located in St Athan, Wales.
As far as powertrains are concerned, it is expected that the Aston Martin SUV will only initially come up with petrol versions with the eight- and twelve-cylinder engines the brand already uses. For later should be reserved a hybrid DBX, which will feature technology provided by Mercedes. With regard to off-road capabilities, there is no doubt that there is no rival for this model in the history of Aston Martin, something that is already proven by the test program that includes passes through the gravel, sand and snow.
