2020 Fiat 500X Interior Dimensions
Turbo was in the international presentation of the 2020 Fiat 500X, whose evolution was made around four main pillars: image, connectivity, safety, and engines. And it was precisely the ‘Firefly’ gasoline vans, which the model debut in the Italian brand, which left us more surprised by the positive in this first approach to the new 500X.
With the head of the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) leader in charge of operations, Fiat chose its home city, Turin, to announce the new 500X. With the arrival scheduled for next month, we can not fail to highlight the wonderful scenery chosen for this revelation, the Mole Antonelliana, a monument that can be seen from far and wide due to its 167 meters high and which houses the Museum of Cinema.
2020 Fiat 500X Redesign & Changes
The choice of the Mole was a very special way to demonstrate how the Italian brand has high hopes for the 2020 Fiat 500X. And that they are founded, since it incorporates the always attractive image of the 500 families, with that nice air conferred by the rounded optics and the front with the symbol of the brand, that has seduced since 1957, and combines this iconic style with the of the fastest-growing segment in the market, that of SUVs and Crossovers. And to have a 500X for all tastes, it can be found in three different variants, in an offer that goes from the most urban “Urban” to the more off-road visual models “City Cross” and “Cross.”
And to this, it also joins a very well achieved interior and with a nice drawing. The seats were very comfortable in leather, good space for the occupants of the rear seats, the various storage spaces in which the practical side of the small compartment in the area of the colored strip of the dashboard is visible, as well as a luggage compartment the 350l for the maximum of 1000l allows to have a totally flat area for transporting the objects.
2020 Fiat 500X features
Another key point of the 2020 Fiat 500X is the way it has become a very technological car. In infotainment, it uses a 7 “screen where 3D TomTom navigation allows you to discover the desired destinations without any problem. And in addition to the immense functionality of Fiat’s Uconnect and AndroidAuto, it also has AppleCarPlay, making it a ‘gateway’ to all the features we’re used to with smartphones. And, as it was possible to check on the test drive, even with the possibility of executing the vocal commands by touching a small button on the left side of the multifunction steering wheel.
We want to remember also the explanation that we were offered on the application Uconnect LIVE, that offers several potentialities. In addition to the more usual ones, such as alerts for revisions, vehicle location, ecall support and car information (fuel consumption, tire pressure, etc.) there are two attributes that have attracted attention. The first is the programmable alerts system to avoid forgetting things inside the car, which can make the phone vibrate to remind you that you were carrying something you need. The one that joins the system that informs you if you exceed speed limits you set when lending the car. Great for car-sharing or for those who let their kids take the car ‘into the night’ and do not want them to overdo it in an attempt to impress friends or friends …
But the technological evolution of the crossover 500 not only made life more comfortable and easier, it also allowed him to take a leap in the field of safety. To this end, the brand has integrated several new security systems. As the list is extensive, we emphasize those that will be most used, such as adaptive LEDs, signal recognition with speed limit alerts, track transposition warning, cruise control or the camera for rear maneuvers. But we can not neglect another system that, interestingly, no one wants to use. Obviously, we’re talking about emergency braking.
2020 Fiat 500X Engine Specs & Performance
When interviewing Luca Napolitano, the day he made the presentation of the car (in the scenery of the Museum of Cinema and with an excellent presentation inspired by the ‘Return to the Future’, theme of the video of promotion of the car that can see next), the head of Fiat in our region had no difficulty in pointing out which was, in his opinion, the main point of renewing this model. Invited to point out its preference among innovations in design, safety technologies, connectivity and powertrains (the four pillars of evolution), it clearly said it was the new family of turbocharged gasoline engines Firefly. A new evolution that, as explained by the developer responsible for blocks 1.0 and 1.3, respectively with three and four cylinders, had some secrets.
The next day we had the same opinion of Napolitano, when testing the new Fiat 500X with the Firefly 1.0 of 120 Hp(5750RPM) and 190Nm (1750RPM), which comes with a six-speed manual gearbox and Firefly 1.3 of 150 Hp 5250RPM) and 270Nm (1850RPM), which uses a six-speed automatic that can be controlled by the tabs on the steering wheel. The availability of both is surprising from the lower ranks, offering a lot of ‘boost’ to the new Fiat 500X and also facilitating the recoveries, in the case of the manual box, even when we started them at 1000RPM.
Which meant that, as they approached the very winding hills around Turin, the amusement was guaranteed. With the suspension filtering with remarkable efficiency the irregularities of the floor, good agility and ability to easily maintain the trajectories even in acceleration in the curves to go up and down, the Fiat 500X would leave us increasingly seduced by the new Firefly. Obviously, this approach with more enthusiasm did not allow us to rigorously evaluate how much the new Firefly family is worth in terms of efficiency, but Fiat says they will ensure a 20% reduction in fuel consumption. In the announced figures, we already have the new standards Euro 6d-Temp, 5.8l / 100km for the triple-cylinder of 120hp and 6.1l / 100km for the four-cylinder block with 150hp.
The range also includes the 1.3 Multijet II diesel engines of 95 Hp (4.2l / 100km with manual of six), 1.6Multijet II of 120 Hp 4.7l / 100km both manual and automatic) and 2.0 Multijet II of 150 Hp, single with all-wheel drive for the Cross version and with a nine-speed gearbox, which were previously covered. But if we had to choose one of the engines, in this first contact with the 2020 Fiat 500X the preference falls on the new Firefly 1.0 of 120hp.
The reasons for this choice are easy to explain. The first is that the absence of noise and vibrations on board makes anyone doubt that it is in the presence of a three-cylinder engine. Then, because the vigorous way it responds by pressing the accelerator will delight those who want a more lively driving (in this point, we can also say the same as the 1.3 Firefly, but the use of the automatic box ends up removing that unique feeling of being in change).
And finally, we liked this version for the price it will be placed on the national market. The € 22,500 from which it will be available since October put it at an extremely competitive level compared to potential rivals at the same price level. In this range between € 20,000 and € 24,000 we also find the models Citroën C3 Aircross 1.2 Puretech 130 Hp , Hyundai Kauai 1.0 TGDI 120 Hp , Nissan Juke 1.2 DIG-T 115 Hp , Opel Crossland X 110 Hp and 130 Hp, Peugeot 2008 Puretech 110 Hp or Volkswagen T-Roc 1.0 TSI of 115 Hp.
And why is the 2020 Fiat 500X more competitive? First of all, we have to mention that this is the model that the newest customers win for Fiat. This is due to the combination of greater adaptation to a family life and the visual, within the crossovers and small SUVs, of those looking for a car that combines modernity with an emotional touch.
Thus, it is true that his opponents also excel in different parameters, is more competitive because the transalpine model managed to gain a new powerful weapon with the introduction of this pleasant and exciting engine of 120 hp. And this new attribute adds to what was already the main asset of the Fiat 500X: the unmistakable image of the 500 range that leaves no one indifferent and since 1957 has been falling in love with motorists.
